WHO WE ARE

Throughout his career, Mike Sharpe has served as a driver of positive transformation and operational excellence within the sports industry. In each of his professional roles, Mike has provided dynamic leadership, strategic vision, and tactical expertise to move organizations and people beyond the status quo to attract and execute economically impactful events for the community, ensure fiscal health of organizations, support focused growth, and build people and value-centered enterprises. 

During his time as the President/CEO of the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission, Mike led the daily operations of the organization and managed a large, community-based Board of Directors. Work was necessary to diligently reimagine the commission’s role within the region, focusing on rebuilding community relationships, and stabilizing finances. Less public in nature included internal work to implement important governance, financial and operational changes to be more reflective of a best-practice, vibrant and accountable 501(c)3 and 501(c)6 organization while working with the Board and Executive Committee to focus on future organizational successes. 

In his seven plus years with the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation, Mike served as the lead on multiple national bid opportunities for the organization, utilizing his extensive professional connections to explore, create and ultimately procure new sporting events for the region. During Mike’s tenure, Kansas City realized a surge in national event acquisition and hosting opportunities. 

Mike’s administrative and management capacities are considerable and extend beyond the Sport Commission and DMO industry as his background includes experience working within the NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA while developing extensive relationships with leadership at each of those levels, as well as those within multiple National Governing Body organizations. 

These work experiences and professional relationships developed over three decades are resources that will be leveraged to provide the necessary support for successful consulting and collaboration with your organization.
